CLE Course Description – Adoption Ethics & Accountability

In October 2007, the Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute sponsored a timely and important conference, Adoption Ethics & Accountability, held in Washington, D.C. This conference, cosponsored with Ethica, Inc., brought together over 80 adoption professionals from the US and abroad to examine and address ethical issues in domestic infant adoption, international adoption, and the adoption of children from the US foster care system.

This CLE course presents 8 of the 23 recorded sessions from that conference. Handouts or presentations used during each session, if any, are included. Each recorded session is 75 minutes in length with a minimum of 3 to 4 presenters for each session, including at least one professor of law or practicing attorney. The sessions have been divided into 3 main course options, with each option focusing on a particular member of the adoption triad – birthparents, adopted children/adults and prospective/current adoptive parents.
