Dr. Adrienne Asch
Dr. Asch is the Henry R. Luce Professor in Biology, Ethics and the Politics of Human Reproduction at Wellesley College. Her work focuses on the ethical, political, psychological and social implications of human reproduction. Previously, Dr. Asch held the position of Associate Professor at the Boston University School of Social Work, where she taught human behavior and social work ethics. She received a B.A. In Philosophy, an M.S. in social work, community organization and planning, and a Ph.D. in social psychology. She has worked in various social and political movements with particular focus on fighting discrimination and preserving civil liberties. She has served as an Associate in Social Science and Policy with the New Jersey Bioethics Commission, and was a member of the Clinton Task Force on Health Care Reform. Although her principal work focuses on ethical and psychological issues in reproduction and the family, she maintains her political and intellectual involvement with questions of discrimination, and the sources of political ideology and of onešs own sense of personal and group identity.
