FACULTY MEMBER BACKGROUND

Rena Philips

Ms. Philips is a teacher and researcher in the Department of Applied Social Science, the University of Stirling, Scotland. She previously worked as an adoption and fostering specialist in a statutory social work agency. For a number of years she has been involved as a co-worker and consultant in a project she helped to establish, offering post adoption support and services to families. Her research interests are adoption, fostering, disability and social work education. Publications in adoption cover step-parent adoption, post adoption support, open adoption and self-assessment by prospective adopters. In 1998 she visited the United States from on a study tour of post adoption services.
