Barbara Shaw
Ms. Shaw has a Master's degree in Communication, and has worked as a speech and language pathologist for over thirty years. She has also held various media-related jobs such as station manager for Channel 12 in Aspen, Colorado, and writer/columnist for Blade-Citizen newspaper in Oceanside, California. Her involvement in adoption reform began ten years ago, after she found the son she lost in 1967. She has since been a member of Concerned United Birth Parents (CUB) and served as editor of its San Diego newsletter. She is currently the Media/Outreach Co-ordinator for Los Angeles CUB as well as the California State Representative for STAC (Stop the Uniform Adoption Act Coalition). In 1997 she produced a Secrets & Lies movie benefit for CUB, and has a particular interest in the Media/Hollywood/Pop Culture perception of adoption related issues. She is currently researching a book on this subject.
