Research Bibliography and Abstracts Database
To amass this database, a comprehensive literature search for articles, master's theses, Ph.D. dissertations, conference proceedings, books, book chapters, reports and unpublished manuscripts was conducted. Among the information resources searched were Social Science databases such as Sociology, Social Work, and Psychology Abstracts, MEDLINE, OCLC and Dissertation Abstracts. Abstracts of qualitative and quantitative adoption research conducted and/or published from 1986 through 1997 are included. The research encompasses clinical and nonclinical samples, case studies, longitudinal studies, epidemiological studies, grounded theory, experimental, and single subject research. Approximately 1,000 abstracts are included.
It is the hope of the Institute that this database of abstracts will prove to be a valuable resource for all members of the adoption community. The database is updated on a monthly basis. If you are aware of empirical research on adoption that is not included please let me know.
The abstracts in this database have been compiled and published in "An Annotated Guide to Adoption Research: 1986 - 1997."
