NEW YORK, July 22, 2008 – The Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute is proud to announce that Naomi Cahn of George Washington University Law School, an outstanding scholar in the fields of adoption and assisted reproductive technologies, is joining our Senior Research Fellows Program.

Cahn, the John Theodore Fey Research Professor at GW Law School, has authored numerous law review articles on adoption, family law and related subjects, and has co-authored several books, including the text Contemporary Family Law (Thomson/West 2006); Families By Law: An Adoption Reader (NYU Press 2004, with Prof. Joan Heifetz Hollinger); Confinements: Fertility and Infertility in Contemporary Culture (Rutgers University Press 1997), and Test Tube Families (NYU Press 2009).

“Professor Cahn’s expertise in the law brings another important dimension to our Senior Fellows Program,” said Adam Pertman, the Adoption Institute’s Executive Director. “She’s an exemplary scholar and researcher – and we’re honored that she has agreed to join us.”

The other Senior Fellows – all among the most prominent and highly regarded researchers, lecturers, trainers and writers in the field today – are: Dr. Richard Barth of the University of Maryland; Dr. Devon Brooks of the University of Southern California; Dr. Harold Grotevant of the University of Massachusetts; Dr. Victor Groza of Case Western Reserve University; Dr. Dana Johnson of the International Adoption Clinic at the University of Minnesota; Dr. Ruth McRoy of the University of Texas; Dr. Ellen Pinderhughes of Tufts University; and Dr. Scott Ryan of Florida State University.

The Institute created its Senior Fellows Program to enhance the quality and impact of our work – and to improve adoption generally. The Fellows enhance and expand the Institute’s initiatives by contributing their knowledge and expertise, providing insights from their research and experience, helping to enhance the value and usefulness of our products so they achieve the highest possible standards and impact, and assisting in focusing our work on the vitally important issues that affect tens of millions of children and families in our country every day.
